During this journey, we encourage our children to talk, to question situations, people, feelings, and characters. Our classes are a space where there is no right or wrong. A space that acknowledges different perspectives. Where they can explore and experiment without judgment. Where we can listen to them, and they can feel heard.
What we do?
Theatre with Simran conducts creative drama, storytelling and theatre classes for children in the age group of 2 to 13 years of age in Delhi-NCR. Since 2014, we have been working with children to give them space to grow, a platform to express themselves and the confidence to BE THEMSELVES.
How it Started?
Founded by Simran S Arneja, who has extensive and long years of experience in early childhood storytelling, drama and theatre. Theatre with Simran has made a name for itself in the field with its unique philosophy.
Why Us?
Hundreds of children have been through our programs, designed for different age groups and interests, which go beyond regular drama classes to create original plays, scripts and stories with children in the school set-up, and also as after-school enrichment programmes. From one batch of ten children, our programs have grown to more than ten times that with several batches of classes in both North and South Delhi and a loyal following. We are proud to say that children keep coming back to us. Some of them joined us at the age of 2 or 3, and ten years later, we are still learning and growing together. Some of them have graduated to assisting our facilitators and working backstage on productions.
How we do it?
Our programs focus on encouraging young learners to work with their imaginations, improvisation as well as different materials like text, music, props, puppets and artwork to create exciting and meaningful stories and plays. However the finished play is not the focus of our programmes. What we emphasize is the journey taken to reach the finished pieces which is designed to be an enriching experience.
Collaborations
At Simran S Arnejas Creative Drama and Theatre company, we prize the works we have produced in collaboration with other folks in the early theatre space, as well as practitioners of other performative styles. Collaboration sparks imagination and creativity within our classes, too and the beauty that emerges from meaningful working interactions with others is a core learning for our children.
